Sayville Recruiting Update

Well I just got off the phone with the head coach of the Long Island Champions, Rob Hoss, of Sayville High School. I was able to get an update on the recruiting process.

Zach Gallo - DT - Has Committed to Albany. He'll be joining Mike Tracey up there from East Meadow.

Jon Lewis - OL - Has committed to Bryant University. Once again I think Bryant stole a player here. Jon and Bellort's MLB James Pendergrast (also committed to Bryant) both could be playing at higher levels in my opinion.

RJ Khun - QB - RJ is a big tall QB, who always seemed to make the big throw when needed. He's being recruited by Wagner, CW Post, Western Conn. Montclair State.

Andrew Smith - RB - The speed back in Sayville's Thunder and Lighting attack. Andrew was hampered by injuries all year long, but still had a very productive season. Andrew is being recruited by East Stroudsburg University.

Recruiting update on John Glenn H.S.

With two of the top players on Long Island Coach Dave Shanahan has had a busy couple of month. He was gracious enough to set down with LI BLITZ and give us an update on Trevor Coston and Ifeanyi Momah.

Ifeanyi Momah - WR - 6'7" 220 - Just is a freak of nature, we rated him the #3 prospect on Long Island. Colleges have been in hot pursuit of him and he has narrowed his choices down. He has official offers from Syracuse, UCONN, and Temple. He waiting on BC, Clemson, and Rutgers. BC and Rutgers could be calling soon with scholarship offers. Schools are intrigued by his size and speed, some are thinking of bulking him up and playing him at DE. Others want him as a TE. Syracuse has said that they want him as a WR. Ifeanyi on the year had 47 catches and 685 yards, while racking up 55 tackles and 4 sacks.

Trevor Coston - ATH - Trevor was the spark plug for this high powered offense. Trevor was a first team ALL-LI BLITZ as a DB this past season. Coach Shanahan has said that Trevor has offers from Maine and Rhode Island, while CW Post is in the mix as well. Trevor on the year passed for 1352 yards and 9TDS. He also ran for 910 yards and 15 TDS. He also had 56 tackles.

Ifeanyi Momah

Ifeanyi Momah was a first team All-LI BLitz.com WR this past season and he was rated as one of the top recruits on Long Island. It's easy to see why colleges are fighting over him, he's 6'7" 215 and glides when he runs.
It seems as though Ifeanyi has narrowed his choices down to a 4 of schools; Temple, Syracuse, Rutgers and one other Big East School. Momah has already visited Temple and Syracuse and is planning to visit Rutgers in the near future.

East Meadow Jets Recruiting Update

This past season the Jets enjoyed one of the greatest seasons in East Meadow High School history. They were the top football team in Nassua County from start to finish. They played in the Long Island Championship game. Coach Mascia was lead by a great group of seniors during the season. I had a chance to catch up with Coach today and get an update on the recruitng process.

OL - John Elliott - He's one of the top players on the East Coast, and has narrowed down his choices to Rutgers, Boston College, Virginia, and Michigan. John has already visited Rutgers in December. Coach Mascia told me that John has visits set up for later in this month to Michigan and Virginia. The new coach at Boston College has been in contact as well and they are trying to set up a mid week visit sometime this month.

QB - Mike Tracey - Mike is probally all set to go to Albany University. He had a great visit and they offered him a scholarship.

RB/DB - Andrew Rubenau - After a very productive senior season Andrew has been in contact with Gettysburg and Cortland University.

LB - Chiris Bright - Chirs is still being looked at by Albany and Stony Brook University. CW Post has real interest in Chris and will be waiting for him.

OL - Sal Posillico - Sal's height has hurt him during the recruitng process, because he sure can play extermely well. Sal is being recruited by Cortland, Ithaca, Franklin and Marshall. He will be a steal at that level. He can be a four year starter for any of those teams.
